Ingredient list is a bit long for my tastes, will give it a shot and see how it goes unless anyone here sees anything of serious concern.

Beard-related gift ideas, anyone?

My dad has always been clean shaven but for the last two months or so he's been talking about letting it grow out, he tried it for a few weeks but ended up going back to clean shaven because he 'fucked up when trimming'.

So, I'm looking for some beard/moustache-related gifts that he may be interested in. I'm in the UK, ideally not looking to spend more than £20 or so, but any help would be appreciated.

Greetings beardbros, just subbed today after 1 month of growth. Will be posting updates as the dry cold winter months approach. Any tips/advice would be appreciated!

A lot of useful info on this subreddit to help me grow the winter beard. Just mixed my own beard oil today thanks to you guys!

Anyway, here is today after patiently growing it out for a month. I do have patchy cheeks and missing goatee connectors but I'm hopeful to get to a full and thick beard in a couple of months. What do you think?

Should I also start grooming/trimming or wait it out another month at least??

Before and after a trim

http://ift.tt/1N25a3P

Decided to use my beard to my advantage this Halloween.

http://ift.tt/1Rk2PF6

Conditioners?

For background - I've kept a beard at about 1/2 inch for years, and only recently begun experimenting with growing it out a bit. My facial hair, untreated, has the texture of steel wool. It's easier to grow it out than to shave, but some sort of conditioner or balm is a good idea if I don't want it to be abrasive to anyone who touches it.

I was a loyal user of Bluebeard's Original for a long time, because I liked the scent. Most of the balms I'd tried were just too overpowering, or seemed to stay oily in the beard. But its cream conditioner consistency seemed to soften the hair without being an oil that clung to the beard.

But they've changed the formula within the last year, and the last three jars I've ordered have all had a strange mildewy note to the scent.

I interacted with them about it a bit, sent them a bad jar after they offered to replace it if it actually had gone bad, and then I didn't hear from them. I bought one more to be certain and, yes, it still had a foul note under the lime that they apparently don't detect, so I have to assume that's just the scent of the new formula, and they don't notice it, but I do. I need to be done with it.

So...what sort of conditioners or balms do you gentlemen use? I'm looking for something lightly scented that softens the beard a bit, but doesn't stay an oil that rubs off on the fingers.

Thanks.

Help beardbros!

Hey bros, I decided three weeks ago to throw my razer and stop growing a beard. After a few negotiations with my woman she accepted to support me even though she doesn't like the idea ( she doesnt dislike it neither but sheÄs more eskeptic ). She gave me a condition, I can grow it but I need to make it softer, she is extremely sensible and it hurts her everytime we cuddle or kiss and she told me to groom it properly and deal. I need help from you boys because apart from BeardBrand here in Europe I don't find many companies with nice Oils, Softeners and grooming stuff, economically speaking, because I find BeardBrand a bit costy compared to some products some of you guys get in the States or Canada ! Any European/German Beardbro can tell me where they shop for their stuff would be really, really helpful !

Thanks in advance. if requests I'll post beard progression

Never grown a real named beard before. Given my limited spots, what's a good style to try?

Basically I'm 25, and after a month it seems to come in okay.. The mustache is weak, and the worst spot is the front of my chin. It comes in very little immediately under my bottom lip, and then nothing for a finger width to the middle of my chin, and then it's strong from there south. Also the mustache does not connect to the beard. So it's like a little U shape of no hair around my bottom lip.

If I shave the mustache because it's already kind of weak, it looks very Amish. And i'm just not into that. So what do you recommend? I can submit a picture later when I'm not at work if I need to.

It sucks that even if nothing else came in, the chin seems the be the most important part. And I can do everything but.

At 25 years old, I'm losing my facial hair.

I believe I have alopecia areata. 12 months ago, I noticed patches missing from the hair on my face. WebMD said it would last 3-6 months and stress plays a big role in its onset. I've since taken care of the most stressful aspects of my life, got a better job, started eating healthier, and I'm working out a lot more. Still no results at all. So today, after doing more research on treatments, I'm going to try minoxidil.

Has anyone else had this sort of problem? If so, what did you do to get your beard back?

A comparison shot of me at 20 years old, and me today at 25. Pardon the shitty Instagram filter.

Has anybody else tried the Squat Everyday Split for powerlifting?

I'm no one special and I am in no way an expert in these things. I'm just a squat fanatic and have been squatting everyday from day one. I originally started with olympic lifting, so squatting everyday felt normal, now I've just carried it on into powerlifting. It works for me so I've just stuck with it!

I see that Cory Gregory actually did an article earlier this year about it and even included a program, it seems to be growing in popularity so I was curious as to what everyone's thoughts were...both from those that do it and from those that don't and why etc.

What do you like/dislike about it? What have you found to be the pros and cons? If you have chosen not to try it, why is that? And with regards to nutrition, what sort of diet have you implemented with this regime? :)

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Let me start by saying you all have some bitchin beards that I'm incredibly envious of. My family, especially my dads side, aren't notorious for facial hair...just thick ass topiaries on top of our skulls.

Left Right

Being the proud owner of a beard has been a goal of mine for some time now, and I'm finally in a job that will allow me to grow it out. I'm still in the baby stages and want to make sure that there is actually potential for a sweet beard in the future. Right now I'd probably pass for a mangey pirate.

Thanks for the feedback!

EMSKR: Attending parties when you don't enjoy attending parties

I've been invited to a Halloween party at a place I really don't enjoy being. I'm not a party guy as it is, certainly an introvert. This is a party my girlfriend wants me to attend because I've never been a social butterfly and she wants me to go with her. It is a family event, where her uncle will host the festivities in his garage converted to a bar. That by itself is a challenge. But her uncle and the attendees are raging alcoholics who are cut from a cloth I am not. I offered to go and find a quiet niche with people sharing my disposition, but was told that the house is flea infested.

I do not want to go, I have told her this and stand by it, but I know that sometimes you just have to do things you don't want to do. How do you survive being at a party that is at odds with everything you are "about"?

Arm hair thickened after lack of wash

I went through a surgery after break my left arm scaphoid bone and it was immobilized with a splint for the past three months. I've just remove the splint and I noticed that my arm hair is thicker than it was. I already read about to don't wash the face/beard to the facial hair become thicker, but didn't knew if it was true. Well, as you can see in the picture, there is some difference between my left and right arm/hand.

The splint was replaced every 2 weeks, and my arm was washed with water and glycerin soap in these gaps, that's the result: my arms

Don't know if it's doable with beards, but it's an interesting unpredictable experience

Has oils made your beard naturally soft over time or is your beard only soft when applying oil?

I would love it where after using oil for a few months that I could go a day or two without using oils and still have a soft beard. By using oils every day will it make your beard naturally soft, or will it only be soft when using oil?

Also, I have a pretty course beard right now. So right now it's kind of a course-soft, Will always be like this or is there a chance it could be more hair-soft?

Thanks in advanced

My beard growing brethren, I have two words for you: Jojoba Oil

This shit is seriously amazing. My facial hair was causing my already dry skin to flake more often than I wanted. This oil may have completely corrected the issue. Im seeing a better sheen and overall improvement to the softness of my beard as well as a solid moisturizing compensation. Its pretty cheap (I bought a 4 fl oz bottle at GNC for 7 bucks) and has surpassed several beard oils Ive bought online. The only drawback is it doesn't smell like oak or cedar. Keep growing, everyone.

My Take on GZCL

This is my first topic post here. I discovered the GZCL method through Reddit so I thought I post this here.

I have been working on my own version of the GZCL to run after my meet. I will run it with a power building method in mind. I kept T3 exercises non-specific and focus more on hitting the specific muscle group. The deadlift day I might have to adjust once I run the program. I pull sumo... and high reps or high volume makes my hips super sore. So I kinda setup with what I think I can handle.

http://ift.tt/1kWePT1

I can't say how much time it has as I haven't shaved for just under a year, but I've been trimming on a fairly regular basis up to a couple months ago. Since those few years ive just been clipping the stray hairs and any split ends i incurred from being out of oil. My cheeks have always produced little or no hair, so I've decided to see if it will fill in. Currently using dollar beard club's oil and balm, along with their brush. Prior to that I've only had a plastic comb and a local made oil. Any other products you fine gents would recommend? Also, I know people claim both sides of the myth, but are there any balms/oils that genuinely do increase growth speed and fullness?

Hey guys!! Need some beard grooming advice!

Hello fellow bearded men! I just need some advice. First of all, I worked at Carl's Jr for almost 3 years and I quit my job recently for a much better one. Im telling you this because my past job required me to be clean shaven. For a man that can grow a full on beard in four days, it's pretty sad... and painful for my wallet and face. (fucking razors are expensive).

Many perks came with leaving your job... One of my favorites is finally being able to grow out my beard. Fuck yea! However I don't really know how to keep keep it clean if I chose to grow it out. I'm pretty hairy, so if I don't shave it, it grows all wild and goes pretty far down my neck where my adams apple is.

Its my first time posting here. So if anyone has any advice on how to maintenance a full grown beard and how to make it look clean just please let me know. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

edit: Sorry, What I'm pretty much asking is, How do you keep it long but still make it look clean? My hair is super thick and grows like crazy. Thanks.

What should I do to make my beard look better?

http://ift.tt/1Hd9Q58

Am I doing it right?

http://ift.tt/1P6pqFT

Ok so this is the first time I've tried growing a beard. I never thought I could because of the space where my cheek meets my chin that doesn't seem to grow hair....sucks but this is the beard I was dealt and I'm gonna play it.

I wanted anyone with experience to let me know if I'm trimming my neck line to much or too little. I intend on growing it too a full beard. Most likely gonna keep it around 6" but who knows.

I know too much trimming is a big no no with beards, especially this early on, so I hesitate when I shave my neck. However I don't want to be letting hair grow that I should be trimming. Other than shaving the neck and trimming the mustache with scissors just around the lip line, I havnt cut it at all.

Glad to join the beard community! Never thought I could grow one but I'm happy I was wrong. I've been drinking and now I'm starting to ramble...so I'll stop.

Crash / physical impact Resistance...

Hey guys.

This is gonna be a little wierd one - but stay with me. I won't spend time to describe my sport. It's Swooping freestyle - Look it up on YT if you desire.

Long story short: I need to be able to resist crashes on water and ground. (Just in case - to avoid major injuries) Training to get better does sometimes include crashing at high speeds...

I'm in a rather good shape (160 pounds - 5 foot 10ish. former gymnast. But I need to get strong without getting too big.

The solution is pretty obvious like: Exercise, Stretch bla bla bla.

But I was just thinking if you guys have some kind of way of builing a strong and flexible body?

Shoot! Thanks!

1.5 months. Not sure about it.

I need some support my bearded brothers. This is my first time growing it out. I am at about 1.5 months of growth. I am also having a problem with the area right under my ears. The hair seems to be going in all directions; the way in which it seems to kind of want to go is up toward my ear. Most of the time it is sticking out and going in all directions. What should I do?

Good evening from the UK my bearded brothers.

Two weeks in keeping the neck clean... What do you think? Slightly mental with the shaved head? I'm a big, tall guy so slightly conscious of my outgoing appearance! Saying that, at an airport walking to my gate today, two smoking hot girls, smiled and blushed at me... This honestly never happens! Power of the beard?

EMSK how to phrase certain things politely

So I've been thinking bout this a bit lately. Before there's 50 comments saying every man doesn't need to know this, you're certainly right. I just think it's interesting to think about and if one person gains anything outta this post it's worth it.

So certain phrases can come off as harsh or greedy or polite. That's really it all comes down to. I'll give you two examples that I did.

One: me and a friend had two beers opened. One for each. They were his beers; so I wanted to drink and wanted to ask which was mine. But instead if saying "which is mine?" I said "which is yours?" The focus isn't on me, but him. After all, it's his beers.

Two: a girl is dressing up for this weekend. A particularly hard costume. I want to say "it'll be great if you pull it off." But that's doubting her. So I say "it'll be great when you pull it off." The if and when make a big difference. It doesn't doubt her, which is true. I know she's gonna pull it off.

So this may be common sense or not, idfk. You may say this is too much analysis for little meaning, but I find it interesting and consequently shared.

Making the most out of movember for non-bearder

Hello! 22 years old here and i've previously been unable to grow a beard. I've got facial hair at my sideburns, chin and stache. They don't connect.

I've done some research now before MoVember because i thought that i'd join in this year, no matter what i end up with or how much of a perv i'll look like with my little stache. I'd like some thoughts and comments on what i've found:

Scrub: From what i've found, dead skin cells and random shit could potentially clog up your face which would lead to difficulties in growing a beard. A scrub would clean up your face and would make your skin healthier.

Moisturizer: This would be good in combination with the above mentioned scrub. I do see the benefits of this one, moist skin and healthier skin etc etc, but are there no possibilities that this would clog up your face instead of the old shit that the scrub removes?

Biotin: There are discussion on a cascade of different forums and different forumers have been reporting different results so i thought to myself why not? Might as well try it. I'll start with 300ug three times per day. (I already take Zinc for bodybuilding-reasons which could also have some benefits for your facial hair)

What do you guys think of this?

(I know that it's the beard on the inside that counts, not the one on the outside)

Tuesday, 27 October 2015

It happened to me, it could happen to you. Alopecia of the beard.

This is a word of warning. I wasn't aware this could happen, but it did and it has made me sad.

I am 25, and in the past few months I've developed the condition alopecia areata barbae, an autoimmune disease which targets the follicles of the beard, causing them to stop growing and making the beard patchy. It's the mildest form of alopecia by far, affecting only the beard, and it comes and goes.

Right now I have 4 major bald patches, and several smaller ones. One of the major patches has started regrowth, but the hair is coming in white now, and white hairs have appeared randomly scattered throughout the beard. Keep in mind I am a young man, and already cursed with early male pattern baldness.

I'm writing this post as a sort of eulogy. I loved my beard, I oiled and trimmed and pampered it, and as a bald man I made my luscious black beard my defining feature. And now it's dead, a patchy salt-n-pepper mess.

It could happen to you. My doctor says it's genetically linked, but also seems random, striking people of any age and background. He says it may be stress related, but he isn't sure. He also said there's a miniscule chance it spreads, becoming one of the more severe forms of alopecia that effect the scalp or the whole body and become permanent.

So cherish your beard while you have it, you might not always.

Are there any types of waxes/balms that make your beard look thicker?

I have a full beard, but it's light and thin in a few spots. I was wondering if there was something that can make those spots look thicker as I wait for them to naturally thicken with age.

Edit: I found this, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of something else.

Beard Conditioner, Oil, Balm?

I've used each of the listed products at different times (ignoring the wax that my 10-monther's moustache needs) and I'll admit to a little confusion as to what to use when and for what purpose. If I wash the beard during my morning shower, let it dry, and apply Balm and comb it out, I get pretty decent hold for my wiry graying beard. If I add oil to the equation (before or after the balm, yes -applied to the hairs on the way to getting it into my skin) it seems like I get a good sheen, but the hold component goes away. I've recently tried adding conditioner (beard, not hair stuff in the shower) after I've toweled it dry, but before the 20-30 minute air dry I give it before adding beard balm (for that hold) and that seems fine, but I'm not sure it's adding any control or anything.

So I guess my question(s) is/are, if I own all three of these, should I be using them all, and if so, how? Again, older guy (50) with a pretty wiry gray (50%) beard.

Well I'm 15 I'm in high school. I can grow a pretty damn good beard in about a month ... I'll post a pic sometime... Anyways I do get away will a lot of shit with my beard because I look older but i do get some hella awkward stares when I'm with mom and I look like I'm 19 or older.( no joke I'm a little tan and have wide shoulders people think I'm in college ) other times my beard has ruined my day, for example when I'm hitting on women, some women don't like it some women do, but when I'm flirting with a girl who is my age she finds it weird cuz I look like 3 years older than her but when I'm hitting on girls a little older than me my friends ruin my chances by saying I'm only 15. This damn beard helps me one day but not the other. Any experiences where your beard helped you or ruined you ?

How old is too old to hope?

So, this is a generic "how long?" question. I know that if you're 16 or 18 then your beard isn't done filling in and you're fine. But I'm nearly 22 and my beard is still not full. I can grow something resembling a beard, but it's not all that thick and my cheeks are weak at best. It makes no sense to me, since every man in my family on both sides can grow a beard. I'm just starting to lose hope of it ever coming in right.

To make matters worse, I'm beginning to go bald, so soon even the "just grow your hair out" option is going to be gone. Am I too late?

Movember with a beard

Hello everyone,

I am an avid supported of Movember and think that it is great fun, and for a great cause, however I am now 5 months into my first proper beard.

I have participated in November for the past 5 years and am familiar with the rules:

ONE Once registered at movember.com each mo bro must begin the 1st of movember with a clean shaven face.

TWO For the entire month of movember each mo bro must grow and groom a moustache.

THREE There is to be no joining of the mo to your side burns. (that’s considered a beard)

FOUR There is to be no joining of the handlebars to your chin. (that’s considered a goatee)

FIVE Each mo bro must conduct himself like a true gentleman.

What I would like to know is if there is a consensus as to what a man can do in order to show that he is involved in Movember whilst preserving his beard?

Hey everyone. Just wanted to throw out an update on my first time purposefully growing out a beard. I have two pictures taken today (2 months growth) and a picture from my last post (1 week growth).

Mustache Problems

So I've been growing the beard for about 2 months now and it has gotten decently long. Unfortunately the mustache is not being to so kind. I'm a 29 year old making my first attempt at a beard, and was hoping the fine gentlemen of r/beards would lend me some advice.

I'm probably a month or a little more in, and I'm afraid I won't achieve a beard worth wearing. Its still pretty thin and patchy, and what I do have is long enough to start getting unruly.

Pictures are below, and I would be appreciative of any advice at all. Should I give it more time? Or give in? If I should keep trying, is there anyway I can make it look a little neater?

Grooming/Trimming Tips

Hi r/beards,

I'm in the middle of my first ever experiment with anything more than stubble and I'm happy with my progress so far. This is my progress after ~3 months:

My Beard

Any sort of grooming/trimming I've handled myself thus far and I think it looks OK - but I've got a job interview tomorrow morning, and the local barber that's been recommended to me is closed today! I had planned to go in to get my beard cleaned up a little bit, but now my options are to do it myself, or shave... and I'd really rather not shave!

Any pros out there have any advice on how I go about this undertaking? I've got clippers, scissors, razors, combs and bristle brush at my disposal, and I feel pretty confident in using them, I guess I don't know which areas I should address, if any.

Thanks!

Yes, yes... 13 weeks... let it grow... it will fill in. I have lurked for a while and I know all the advice. I just need a bit of a confidence boost on this one. I've dropped over 120 lbs in the 9 months and I thought that I may give a beard a shot. I have never been comfortable enough to draw beard attention. But now that I'm a bit more at home in my own skin, do you think this is gonna work? I'm 2 week + 1 day in...

Struggle for Control

I'm a pretty professional guy, ties aren't uncommon in my daily routine. I'm 31, and I've working here since I was 25 as an engineer. Since then, we've seen a lot of managment changes and I've worked my way forwards in the company. The last year has seen the majority of that positive motion, and the last year I've been sporting a well trimmed face warmer (picture to come later).

My main issue, is lack of control. I can't seem to achieve a look that makes me feel well groomed. The mustache gets waxed and does what its supposed to do, no problem. I've been using Honest Amish "Heavy Duty" to assist with keeping some of the flyways down, and they're highly resistant. I even had a wedding this weekend where I did a full trim with the razor, spot trimmed anything that was still out of place, washed (used a couple different ones, always sulfate/paraben free), combed, and proceeded to use HA's "Heavy Duty" with some mustache wax added to it, and I still felt uncontrolled and slightly manic.

I'm moving into a new position soon, where I'll be interfacing a lot with other agencies and become a pretty important cog in our system. My worry is my place of work (and a lot of the other agencies) are a "good ole boys club" and I'm not one of them. I hold my own in meetings, I know my shit, but there's always those who see me as a "whippersnapper". I'd love to add some length, but to do that, I'd HAVE to have better control.

Does anyone have a suggestion on a product to help me keep this guy in line?

How should I style my mustache when it grows out? Part to the sides, or trim it?

Whenever I get a decently long beard, i'm at a loss for the mustache. What I see on this site is most people kind of parting it to either side. But is it possible (or should I say fashion savvy/technically feasible) to use a comb and beard oil alike (maybe even some mustache wax for training) to have my mustache lay flatter rather than parted to the sides. Then, essentially trim the now flattened mustache hair to barely protrude over my upper lip? I saw this guy do it, but his looks off for some reason http://ift.tt/1S5mb1r

So i've grown a decent beard before but i've been clean shaven for awhile. In preparation for no shave November (and hopefully never if all goes well) I've been building my collection of beard care products. I have some jojoba oil being shipped as we speak and I even got a special comb from kent, all thanks to this great community and side bar information. Any other suggestions for my repertoire would be nice. I'm probably going to use a comb not a brush, and I may need to get special beard conditioner because at the moment I was just going to use my normal conditioner...

Anyways thank you for reading :)

I'm sorry to take a serious turn but a brother needs advice

Has anyone here been affected by beardscrimination? One of our bearded brothers has been told to shave his beard by his company.

It's a good beard, full, tight and only fairly short, but very tidy. The issue is, they hired him with the beard several years ago. Can they do that? I know there's a school of thought that says "they can do anything if you want to keep your job" but it's very unfair.

Thanks all

Trying to convince my SO to let me grow a beard!

My girlfriend and I have been together for almost 3 years, I have wanted to grow a beard for a long time but my job would not allow it. Now I am working at a new company and facial hair is not part of the dress code (hell yeah!) so I want to go for it. She is not really on board though and keeps flip flopping on the issue. How did you guys convince your SO's to let you grow a beard or did you just grow one and they fell in love?

I just don't want to catch hell.

Be kind.

Need Help regarding serious beard issue.

Hey,

As the title suggests, I seriously need help with this issue. I am an Indian male, 22 years old and have always kept a beard being from a Punjabi family. Although I keep it neat and trimmed, there were always a few "different" looking hairs mingled with my black beard hair. Recently though scores of people have commented about "white hair" on my beard which on further inspection proved to be near reddish - light brown hair that shines/reflects sunlight and appears white. I hope somebody here can help me out, as I am not supposed to be having red hair on my beard.

Beards and interviews

Bearded brothers, I have a quick question for you.

I have an interview coming up for a management position at work and wanted to get some feedback on what to do.

Not too many people at work sport beards, in fact I'm pretty sure I'm one of a handful in the organization. My manager rocks a very short beard, but other then him, nobody on the management team sports facial hair.

Not wanting to blow this opportunity, I'm willing to shave it off just for the interview. However I want to see how some of you Bros have been in similar situations and how you handled it.

Thanks!

How to grow facial hair?

Hey all, this is my first time posting in this sub and it probably will be for a while. I come to you seeking advice. I am a 21 year old male with very thin, light colored facial hair. It is basically peach fuzz, but there are some areas where a few thick black hairs will grow (chin, both sides of jaw) and I have a very faint mustache (a little thicker than the peach fuzz).

A little genetic background, my father is a hairy man. His hair is black and grey and he has a full thick beard (when he wants to). My mother's side is Norwegian and as far as I know, my grandfather had a beard at one point.

My question is this: is there any hope for me? Is there anything I can do to try to encourage facial hair growth? I feel hopeless because all my roommates have glorious beards and I am totally jealous. Any advice would be tremendous help. Thank you!

I have some questions about growing a beard if anyone here could help me clear some things up

I've never grown anything close to a beard. The only spots that actually grow fast for me are mustache and on the chin. I also always end up shaving off the little that grows in the hope that it will grow faster next time. I read somewhere that you should just let it grow as its just slower for some people.

Well I'm on about 3 weeks in and I can definitely see a beard growing but only if I look from up close.. If someone is standing about a feet and a half from me they probably wouldn't see anything as most hair is very thin and small.

My main question is, is this too slow for a beard and should I just give up? I saw pictures here which in 2 months some people already have a pretty good size beard which I know mine won't be even close to that when I reach 2 months..

Also should I be using any kind of products yet or wait to have a somewhat visible beard first? I read somewhere moisturizer with eucalyptus would aid in growing faster and I started one today but that's the only thing I'm using ATM.

Is there anything else I could do to make it grow faster?

Any kind of pointers would be greatly appreciated.

A first-time bearder who could use some advice

http://ift.tt/1i0jW2k

I recently decided to grow out my beard in order to join the ranks of true men. After about 1½ months I discovered a few things: I have essentially no mustache connectors and only a few patchy hairs on my cheeks. Since the start of said growing I have trimmed the cheeks and cleaned up the neckline a bit.

My goal, as I was already aware of these shortcomings, was always to grow something of an Abe Lincoln, i.e. a chin curtain.

I now ask you, esteemed members of r/beards: Should I continue to let it grow and hope that it flourishes, or should I kill it in it's month old crib?

Love/hate (maybe annoyance is a better word) beard relationship?

Hey all,

I've been growing my beard for 1 month and 2 weeks. My mustache is probably the longest I've had it since 2011 or 2012. The hairs are starting to tickle my lip so I'm a bit more conscious of my beard.

Do you ever have moments where you get annoyed with your beard/ mustache and want to shave it all off right then and there? (maybe hate was too strong of a word because I do like my beard). Some days I'm like "man I'm onto something good...digging the thickness and density... I need to keep going to see how the stache and full beard combo looks at 3 months" other days and moments I'm like " I feel like a bum...there is so much food in my stache, are there any more napkins or did I use them all for my whiskers...I feel like a whale sifting kelp when eating/drinking"

Is it worth pushing through the stage where stray hairs stick out and the mustache isn't long enough to tame? I've been using beard oil and a boar bristle brush and that works ok. Not sure how long this stage will last

I'd appreciate any tips or advice

3 months o' beard. Thin on jowls, curls all over and needs some more hold/shape

Okay, so after 3 months of growth, I've started to recognize areas that need some advice:

http://ift.tt/1QZTMsS

  1. I think my beard is thin on my cheeks.
  2. My beard curls up all over
  3. My "tickler" is pointy, should I trim it, shape it with wax or just keep it as is.
  4. I'm thinking of growing my hair out, getting some form of undercut with long hair on top.

So, in short, my questions are:

  1. what can I do about my weak cheek-growth?
  2. What sort of product would you use to avoid excessive curling, I'm currently using Honest Amish Beard Balm, but that doesn't do anything for hold in my beard
  3. In connection with number 2, really :)
  4. Do you have any opinion about my hair-thoughts? :)

Thanks in advance, and thanks for the awesome sub.

One of my long chin curls decided to ditch the comfy warmth of my face today, to embrace the cold, lonely reality of my office desk today. It was a sad time.

I currently have some mustache wax from thebeardbaron.com that I really like; however, it doesn't have the kind of hold that I think I need for this style. It works, but doesn't seem to last long and I would keep having to readjust it. It just does the trick for just general taming of hairs - which is my primary daily use for it.

So, my question is does anyone have any good wax recommendations for doing some heavy mustache styling? Thanks.

Yeard is patchy

I'm new to site, so hope I get my head around it quickly. My yeard (years growth beard) is struggling in the sideburns dept. I love the fullface beard look, but my sideburns have no thickness. The hairs are about 2inches long, but you can see my skin underneath. Does it have any hope of thickening? HELP!

Beware Dollar Beard Club

A word of warning to anyone in Canada thinking of ordering from Dollar Beard Club. I don't know if it's a shipping issue, or a customs issue, or my neighbour stole it. However, I still haven't received my order! It's been three months since I signed up, and nothing has arrived. They said they reshipped a month ago. I'm going to do a chargeback with my credit card. This is ridiculous. My roomate also ordered a kit from them, and had the same problem. Very disappointing.

New Hampshire beard barber

Hello, I am new to bearding and have a solid 3 monther. Its getting a wee crazy and I don't trust myself to trim it up. Was wondering if anyone knew a reputable barber in New Hampshire that trims beards. Thanks in advanced

Beard Speed?

Does your beard grow faster as you get older? I'm only 20, i wont pretend like my beard is anything magical, but its fuller and 2-3 inches longer than any other 20 year old i know. but my beard grows REALLY slow. Like, its maybe grown an inch since january. But my hair grows nearly an inch a month. So my question is, as I get older will my beard grow faster, or am i stick with a slow beard?

EMSKR: How to handle getting a car repaired through an insurance company?

My wife was rear-ended today and, for the first time in our lives, we will be dealing with getting body work done through an insurance company. What should I know about the process and how to get the best work done?

Question about my beard.

I have a weird direction my hair is growing on one side of my face. Its growing up towards my ear while the rest of my hair lays down straight like "normal". Just wondering if anyone has this same problem.

Here's what it looks like http://ift.tt/1PHyOAq

My first attempt at a beard... 4 months

I have a few questions!

So I have read through most of the sidebar stuff, but I still have a few questions if anyone wants to help!

So I am a little more than one month in and the neckline is getting pretty crazy. I was considering shaping the neck and cheek lines a little bit, but I want to know if that is jumping the gun, or if I should just go ahead and go with it?

Additionally, /u/fit1962 mentioned that my mustache would probably be the crowning glory of this all. So far, this bad boy has been coming in REAL thick and fast. I have been doing my best to shape it past my lips by pushing and combing throughout the day. I guess my question is, is there a specific length I should start looking into oils?

And lastly, and this is a whole new feeling for me: My cheeks are sore! My first through was that it was any sort of femininity that may be in me, violently exiting my body through the beard follicles. However, my second though may just be that I am scrubbing too hard in the shower. Right now, I am not doing anything special in terms of washing it. Just a little shampoo (switching between normal and some anti-dandruff) and occasionally some conditioner, but I go rub the hell out of it while cleaning it. I was just wondering if a little soreness is normal as your face adjusts to being much more manly than it was?

Thanks in advance! I look forward to putting up that 2 month photo in about 2.5 weeks!
