anyone else have dreams where they dont have their beards?
Trying to grow a beard
Im 17 and ive wanted a beard for as long as i can remember. All the men in my family have either beards, moustaches, goatees, really any kind of facial hair. And since im the youngest im the only one who doesn't have one. So i was wondering if there was anything i could do to speed up the process. Im pretty sure ill have one eventually because i have had thin hair growning im for a few years, and its just now starting to become thick. Does anyone have any tips that could help, maybe some kind of oil or ointment that makes hair grow faster. Anyway, hope someone can help, thanks!
EMSKR: how to properly quit a job?
I was wondering if someone could help me out. I just got a really awesome job offer and I'm going to take it. But the company I'm with aside from one boss has been great to me. I've just realized there is nowhere to go there. The only jobs I've quit in the past I just walked in and said I'm done or in one case F you. I really don't want to burn my bridges with these guys and plan on giving them 2 weeks notice. Just not sure how to go about it and what to say. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Is there any surefire signs to look for for vellus hair turning into terminal?
I'm asking this as a 24 year old who can barely grow any facial hair. I have about 25 thin and slow growing terminals with about 10 thick and faster growing terminals on my upper lip, and besides that a couple fluke terminals on my cheek and jaw. Everywhere else is vellus hair. I've always been curious and honestly somewhat self conscious as to why I dont grow alot of facial hair and thus have done alot of research over the years.
Basically I want to know if you can tell when vellus hairs are turning into terminals. Over the past year I got some growth on my cheeks nearer to my upper lip thats thin and translucent on the bottom but black on top(my hair is black), and grow to much greater lengths than normal vellus. Similiar things are happening on my chin, but not to the same extent. Is this a sign of good things to come or should I not get my hopes up?
Trying this again since it's not the middle of the night. New beard here with questions about coarse hair, tangles, and beard oil.
Hi guys, I'm about 5 months into growing my first beard, and it's been about a month since I discovered beard grooming. I've picked up beard soap, beard oil, a boar bristle brush, and a comb from Smoky Mountain Beard Co. My main issue is that the hair closer to my jawline and chin is very coarse and tangles quite a bit. It's really difficult to comb and sometimes painful when I snag a tangle. Even after I've spent some time combing it, at no point is it easy to drag my comb through. What can I do about this?
Currently my routine is to use my beard soap, then Head and Shoulders conditioner for a few minutes (only do these about 3 times a week). Then pad dry, apply a dime size amount of beard oil, then comb, then use the boar bristle brush. Although it's slightly easier to comb than it was before, it's still full of tangles and snags. The comb never glides through except up on the cheeks and back towards my ears, that hair is really easy to comb. It might just be because of all the grey hair my chin has, but it'd be nice to be able to do something about it.
Also, should I be applying the beard oil before I comb? Or after I comb and before I bristle brush? I've been doing it before I comb since applying the oil will probably create more tangles, which would defeat any combing beforehand.
Another thing is that I find when I use my conditioner on my beard I tend to get about 10 hairs to come off. Seems like a lot of hair to lose each time I condition. Should I maybe switch to a different conditioner?
Lastly, in this video he use the bristle brush to fluff up his beard and go side to side. Is this a good idea for a beard like mine that has so many tangles? I feel like it would just undo all of the combing I just did.

Keep it or kill it?
Right now I'm at about a months worth of growth with some trimming along the way to try to keep from looking too scraggly. I'm still a bit on the fence about having a full beard; hairs poking the insides of my nostrils occasionally throughout the day gets a bit annoying. So, here we go: http://ift.tt/1LlaXXv
If you say keep it, where should I take it? If not, what went wrong?
Controlling a nasty curl
Hi Bearddit,
I've been having trouble with this nasty curl in my beard for about a year now. Every time my beard gets to about 4-5 inches long, it develops a curl on the right hand side of my face. I've tried oils (argan, tea tree, avocado, coconut...) and beard balm (Honest Amish), as well as blow-drying and not washing, and, while all of these things help, nothing seems capable of actually taming it completely.
Eventually, if I let it continue, nothing will keep it in check, and my beard starts to look very unruly and unprofessional. I'd like to get it beyond this stage, where I can have something fuller than 3-4 months worth of growth, but I can't get beyond this problem. Does anyone have any advice for getting this under control?
Tomorrow marks 1 month on my first beard. Got a couple questions for my experienced beard brethren.
Feels good, although I've already started getting sideway glances from people at work and to be honest I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing yet. here's a picture so far: http://ift.tt/1FJ4TW9 So i got a couple questions, first can anyone recommend a decent beard oil that's either unscented or doesn't smell like shit (had a bad experience with Gibs manscaper brand). I also feel like its pretty patchy and unsymmetrical in some areas, I'm hoping this kind of grows out eventually but in the mean time any tips on keeping it looking like a hot mess until my first trim? and when is a good time for a "first professional trim"?
Just got a sample of Harvest Pumpkin Beard oil!
Smoky Mountain Beard Company included a rather generous sample of their new Harvest Pumpkin Beard Oil in my most recent package from them.
I had hubby wash his beard and eagerly awaited my first sniff. Let me tell you, I get as tired of pumpkin spice latte season as anyone else. It seems that everything is pumpkin spiced this time of year. But I was excited about this and rightfully so.
This beard oil is so awesome. It's the perfect balance of pumpkin, vanilla, and yummy spices. Sniffing it makes me eager for the holidays to roll around, despite the fact that I work in retail.
This beard oil smells so good that I had trouble removing my nose from his beard long enough to write this!!
We will definitely be ordering a full sized bottle. Thanks /u/ClarkW_Griswold!
I'm at three weeks. Could use advice
So I have an issue. My wife loves the sorry excuse I have for a beard so far. I'm in my early twenties, so I figure I should give it a couple more years before pursuing glory, but she wants me to keep it growing.
While I don't really want to keep it growing, I'm looking into keeping what I have around this length and making it look good if possible.
The hair on the front of my chin and my cheeks isn't coarse/dense enough for it to really be of note, so I'm seeking advice on what I could do with this mess until I can grow a full beard down the road.
FYI, I shaved a neck line and shaved the really patchy stuff on my cheeks about a week before these pictures.
Thanks, chaps
Hair wax for beard wax?
Hi guys, I have just started growing my first "real" beard. I have grown a 3 monther in the past but this time I want to grow it for 6 months, and possibly go for a yeard. My question is: would hair wax work in place of beard wax? I am only a month into growing it but I don't want to trim my mustache at all this time around. I have a bunch of hair wax laying around and so I figured if it wouldn't hurt I can just use that up. (I buzzed my hair so it's not getting much use anyway)
The wax in question is Paul Mitchell dry wax.

How long should my beard be in order to get a full viking braid out of it?
Iv been growing it out for a little over a year now and as of recent my goal is to get a big full viking braid. How long should it be? What are some tips you experienced braiders can give a novice like me? (Also, this is the point where I regret trimming it back in May)
Current length: 6.1 inches
Hubby no longer want a beard because he says it's super itchy. Any advice? I want it back!
Title says it all. Should he be using something or doing something?
Thanks!

Does human hair growth ebb and flow with the seasons, similar to some dogs' fur?
I've been getting a ridiculous quantity of compliments on my beard lately, even though I have always kept it trimmed (under 1"). Nothing different now, but it's been mentioned like ten times in the last week by various coworkers and friends. Is it somehow getting thicker now that fall is approaching? I also let it grow to 2-3" before trimming it down, how would that make a difference though?
Keep it weird. Whatever that means to you.
Halloween ideas
Hi bearded friends,
I've got a costume party coming up for Halloween and I can't decide what to go as yet, centering most of the costume on my beard. A friend of mine has an incredible bright yellow mac coat, perfect for a zombie fisherman. An easy, although cop-out choice.
For my fellow beards, what costume ideas can we put together to help one another out?
I made a decision today.
Every morning, I shave off any stubble left over from the day before, like an obedient drone mindlessly following the norms that society has dictated.
Looking down at the sharp, violent razor in my hand this morning, it finally felt like the perfect time to do something radical. I threw away this tool of oppression, and finally decided not to drag its sharp edges across my skin. Starting today, my face will be free.
I'm expecting some initial negative comments from family, friends, coworkers, and especially my boss. Their expectations of my clean-cut corporate appearance will be shattered.
Wish me luck.
Advice on first time growing it out.
Hello!
So I have decided to grow my facial hair out for the first time.
The problem is, most of my hair grows under my chin and it grows fast. While the hair above my chin grows very very slowly. I don't want to have a weird stubbly neckbeard, so I need some advice please.
I was thinking about shaving primarily below my chin, to allow for the hair above my chin to grow out. (Not right at the chin line, I'll keep some hair under there for like an inch or two). Would that work?
I'm very inexperienced with beards, so any help will be appreciated!

Trying to let it grow out as much as possible and would like to do something kick ass with it, but I have absolutely no idea what would look good on me. Do you guys have any suggestions? And you can't really see in the picture, but my cheeks are a little bit on the thinner side than the rest of my beard.
3 weeks in. Goal to 2-3 months
Just found out about this awesome Reddit! I'd like to get to this length http://ift.tt/1OGhegH (not sure how many months it will take)
I'm also growing out my hair to my shoulders so I don't know if it will be too much hair on my face ha ha
Any tips for the mustache? I can never seem to get past 4-6 weeks because my mustache gets in my food and beverages ha ha. Should I get some wax and just trim right above the upper lip?
Here's what I've got so far. I use 2-4 drops of beard oil everyday and distribute it with a boar bristle brush. http://ift.tt/1Wy6nXM

Howdy /r/Beards, I am 5 months into this my beard, and am using this Beard Oil and just bought this Boars Brush.
I feel it needs some shapin', my mustache is an abomination, and I do not want to lose any true length on the bottom. I am looking for some shaping tips/ideas on what to do with my beard.

This may sound like a dumb question, but when I use beard oil, should my beard feel oily? I'm rubbing it into the skin, then using the rest to brush my hair back down. Afterwards, if I touch my beard my fingers get oily. Should I use less? Any info would be much appreciated.

Oil starting kits?
Hello Is there a great beard oil starting kit that anyone highly recommends? My boyfriend is growing out his beard and he washes it with a 2 in 1 shampoo and combs it but he has super dry and flaking skin. I want to get him beard oils and there is so much confusing info and I am not to sure what to get him. I read the side bar but I'm a little lost. Thanks
I fuckin love bearding
On May 16th 2015 I graduated from medical school. More importantly, on that day I decided to grow an amazing beard. With the help of this subreddit, BeardBrand, the Beard Baron, and countless other bearded brethren, I have continued through the awkward times where I was unsure whether I should go on or whether I should shave, since I have grown accustomed to keeping it "clean". Time and time again, I have decided to just let it grow and see what happens. 4.5 months later I must say I am so glad that I continued to make that decision. I look like a fuckin BAUS. I feel like a fuckin BAUS. My new girlfriend is like an 8.5, I have an amazing job, my family is complementing the new look. I am appreciating the compliments from from straight and gay men alike, trying to brush off compliments from straight ladies (see new 8.5 gf above), and I am taking more selfies than ever without having any intention of posting them to social media. I just want to see how awesome I look! Speaking on selfies there are a ton of selfies on this sub, and don't get me wrong, I love looking at your ugly mugs, but I figured I would post a text post to change it up. Maybe ill throw something up some selfies I get to the 6mo mark. Anyway, just want to tell anyone reading this to keep doing what you're doing. Love yourself, love your beard. When in doubt, grown it out. Patchiness is temporary, manliness is forever. Beard is love, beard is life.
EMSK: How to wear fragrance.
I got in a writing mood and had a bit too long-winded a reply to the EMSKR percolating, thought I'd throw it up here and let people discuss.
Credentials: Former reviewer, writer, and moderator at basenotes.com which is the longest-running fragrance board on the net. Amateur perfumer and friends with successful niche perfumers such as Andy Tauer. Good-sized collection. Known to smell good enough for another basenotes member to marry (Anniversary's coming up next week).
Holy crap there's a lot of different colognes.
Yup. What's funny is, if you pay attention to your local department store's offerings, they actually don't change terribly often, especially when you consider that there is, on average, one new fragrance released every day, and that's been the case for about the last ten years. Some will be the equivalent to the AAA video game release with tons of ad budget and publicity; some are like craft beer, cult classics by funky fragrance houses that approach things differently and have earned a smaller but ardent fanbase; some are like indie game developers, low- or no-budget releases that can be hit or miss, but will occasionally produce absolute gems. How deep you delve into the rabbit hole is up to you, and I'm not going to preach about the virtues of niche perfumery or the need to only use natural ingredients.
The fact of the matter is that a fragrance is an accessory much like a watch or dress shoes. It's a finishing touch, and what you wear should be determined by what smells good to you. Your confidence will be what makes the fragrance work for you, and everybody likes a confident man.
Where do I start?
At some point, you're going to need to smell some colognes. (I will use cologne, perfume, and fragrance interchangeably here. There is a difference between a cologne and other fragrances but we'll cover that later.) With any luck, you have reasonably easy access to a department store, a Sephora, an Ulta, a fragrance shop in your local mall, or some other means by which to try some fragrances out. Bring a pen. Pick a few out, let's start with 5. Grab a paper strip (ask if you don't see them), hold the bottle and the paper at arms length, and hit the end of the paper strip with a full spray. Give it a few seconds then wave the paper strip at your face, I do it from a foot or so away. What you're smelling now may bear very little resemblance to what it'll be like in an hour or even in five minutes, but it's a start, and if it's not what you want at this point, that's enough reason to toss it. When you've got a couple that interest you, take your pen and write the name of the fragrance on the paper.
After 4 or 5 different fragrances you will begin to have olfactory fatigue, you won't be able to smell much of anything. You will be offered coffee beans as a way to reset your sense of smell. Decline them, there's nothing that indicates they do anything, and honestly I don't see an overworked nose being helped by strong-ass coffee beans. Just go get some air, take a walk for 10 or 15 minutes. Check on the strips you like periodically, almost all of them will be changing and doing interesting things for the first hour or so.
If you find one that you really like, go ahead and do a spray on your wrist. I don't do more than 2 fragrances here, one on each wrist, it just gets too overwhelming. If you decide you really like it, buy it. Done. Or don't, give it a couple more wears. Lots of places will let you take a small 2mL or so tester home.
How much should I wear?
Generally speaking, less is more. Slight detour here, know your fragrance strengths, these will be on the bottle or package somewhere:
Eau de Cologne (EdC): Low concentration (~5-9%), low longevity, and low projection (also called sillage.) You tend to need to overapply to get any lifespan out of these. Generally lighter citrus-based fragrances.
Eau de Toilette (EdT): Your standard fragrance strength. (~10-14%) Depending on the ingredients and your skin interaction, longevity and projection will be all over the place, anywhere from 3 hours to still faintly detectable after 2 days.
Eau de Parfum (EdP): Higher concentration. (~15-20%) Tread lightly, apply lightly.
Parfum Extrait (Extrait): Very high concentration. (20%+) Rare in men's fragrance.
My typical method for application is one spray to the neck and one to the chest. Since it's not on my wrist, which moves through the air much more than my neck/chest, it's more subtle and office-appropriate. With a lighter fragrance, I'll add one to the wrist. With a stronger fragrance, I'll skip the one on the neck. On the strongest fragrances, I will spray the air and walk through the cloud. You may not smell it, but it's probably just about right for everyone else.
If we're taking a page from the Art Of Manliness book of man, then you really want to avoid overapplying. It either paints you as the slightly more refined version of the kid that sprays Axe body spray for like 10 seconds all over himself, or the boss stuck in the 80s with cologne that enters the room before he does and stays after he leaves. If you're not sure, go for underapplying and ask someone if it's too strong. Be particularly mindful if you're in an office and constantly in close contact with people. Any pregnant ladies about? Skip it entirely.
So do I need 50 bottles like you? Because that's kind of weird.
Yeah it's weird. It was from a time where I had disposable income and just myself to spend it on. I would, however, recommend a little stable of, say, 3 or 4 bottles you like. There are plenty of places where you can get cheap fragrances, and it lets you mix it up in your day-to-day and maybe even have different bottles for different seasons/weather. Certain fragrances are great in cold weather but quickly turn into an overpowering monster in summer heat. Certain other fragrances do a wonderful job of evoking the spirit of summer, and just seem like a sad "I miss summer :[" thing if you're wearing them while shoveling snow. I mean, sometimes that's exactly what you need. But it can be jarring.
So what are some good fragrances?
I'm just going to look over at my collection and note the ones that I think just about anyone would like. I'm not controlling for cost, so the cheap ones are gonna be lumped in with triple-digit ones.
- Terre d'Hermes by Hermes: Has very little in common with what many think of when they think cologne. Wildly popular with the aficionados, was a bestseller for about a year or two. Nice earthy grassy fragrance with high longevity and projection.
- Platinum Egoiste by Chanel: One of my go-to fragrances for office wear. Elegant, not sweet but distinguished. Can be had quite cheaply.
- Rose 31 by Le Labo: A number of fragrances involve the duo of rose and black pepper, the other big name being No. 88 by Czech & Speake. A distinctly masculine rose. What a world.
- Unforgivable by Sean John: A rather blatant clone of Millesime Imperiale by Creed, but for a third of the price and damn hard to tell apart. This was actually the first one I bought when I made this a hobby of mine. Suitable just about any time, any temperature.
- Green Irish Tweed by Creed: No relation to the band. Worn by tons of celebrities as a signature scent. Cool Water by Davidoff will give you a rough idea what it's about, but they're rather different.
- Un Jardin Sur Le Nil by Hermes: A true unisex fragrance, an ideal spring/summer fragrance. If you like mango, you'll probably like it. It's sibling fragrance, Un Jardin En Mediterranee, is also unisex and has a distinct fig note.
- Dirty English by Juicy Couture: I'm admittedly a big fan of cedar in almost every approach to it, and Dirty English is a very nice spicy take on it, and these days it's absolutely dirt cheap. Maybe my favorite fragrance for the hottest of summer days.
- Virgin Island Water by Creed: Summer vacation on the beach in a bottle. Just lovely.
- Code by Armani: A rather unusual fragrance by its contemporary standards, readily available, and there's nothing else like it. It's fairly common, and commonly overapplied. Definitely a 'less is more' fragrance.
- Mugler Cologne by Thierry Mugler: This one will be a bit more divisive. It's distinctly like fresh-cut grass, a bit bitter. If you've got it handy, give it a try.
- A*Men by Thierry Mugler: This is one of those "spray in air, walk through cloud" fragrances, or it would be if it came out of the bottle as a cloud. It doesn't instead it's a stream. It's really only wearable on cold days. It's chocolate and a bunch of delicious smelling things. Girls tend to love it, but apply with the lightest of touches.
- Wall Street by Bond No. 9: Another office-friendly one. Pleasant indeterminate green notes. Pricey though.
- Euphoria by Calvin Klein: Pleasant bubblegum-centric fragrance. Fairly linear, meaning it doesn't really change throughout the course of wearing. Give it a try, it's pretty commonly found.
- Romance Silver by Ralph Lauren: It's probably the most mainstream of the suggestions here, and I hold a fair bit of sentimental value to it, but that doesn't discount just how nice it is. Some people will call it synthetic-smelling, maybe you'll pick up on that or maybe it won't be a big deal.
- Happy by Clinique: Oranges. Just delicious juicy oranges. Overapply it, who cares, it'll be gone quick. I layer it with Euphoria when I wear either one.
- Dior Homme by Christian Dior: Finding the original Dior Homme these days is tricky, they released about 50 flanker versions of it. But if you can find it, it's a truly unique fragrance. Some will call it a waxy iris, some will call it lipstick. You'll almost certainly be the only one at the office wearing it.
- Tam Dao by Diptyque: A simple, singular ode to sandalwood. It'll be hard to just stumble upon but give it a try if you see it.
- Jubilation XXV by Amouage: Probably the most expensive thing I own by the drop. Resinous, nutty, indulgent, I wear it only on special occasions in cool to cold weather.
- Scent One: Hinoki by Comme des Garcons: Been on my to-buy list for ages. Cold cypress and stone. I would go through it way too quickly in the winter.
The EMSKR mentioned aftershave.
Do what you like there, the stuff won't last much more than 30 minutes. Personally, I do wet shaving an use a little (read: less than a dime-sized amount) Geo. F Trumper Skin Food, in the lime scent. Art of Shaving also does a very nice sandalwood cream. Bath & Body Works may be the best easily-accessible place to go for shaving cream, their house brand is from Proraso who make quality cream with excellent lather.

What Is Your Beard "Tick"?
It has come to my attention that a lot of people with beards develop a certain habit (or tick) of some way playing with the whiskers on their face. For example, I have one tuft of hair paralell to my ear that I always press between 2 fingers and pull on, especially if I'm anxious or nervous. What's yours?
Difficulty taming the beard. Advice needed.
Hi, guys. Thanks for looking to help!
I have a beard I really like, and think has a lot of potential. It has a great combo of blonde and dirty blonde, is nice and full, and goes well with my hair.
However, it tends to have a lot of wave to it. Although wave is fine and adds character to my beard, it is wavy 1) where I don't want it to be, and 2) asymetrically. My left side tends to be pretty wavy, while my right side is just fine. It waves out on the left side, and waves into my neck on the bottom left side.
I am currently using oil and conditioner pretty liberally, and I comb it plenty.
What am I to do to get this thing tamed? Any straightening conditioner? Techniques?
Thanks for the help!

Need some advice I guess.
Ok so this is my first time trying to grow a beard. It's been about a month and a half and I think I have a pretty strong goaty but the rest is quite patchy and slow growing. Also it is very red (my head hair is brown). I've had some negative comments about it being red, so I guess I would like to know people's views on red beards and also how long I should stick with it to see how it grow in. Thanks

529 College Savings Plan (x-post from /r/mommit)
Hi /r/DadBloggers,
This is Lauren Min and Lawrence Williams, two researchers at the University of Colorado at Boulder. We would like your help with a research study on college savings. For our research, we are recruiting people who are interested in opening a 529 College Savings Plan but have not done so yet. We will ask you a few questions, and ask you to visit the website of a well known financial institution to learn more about their 529 plan.
For participating in our research, you will be entered into a raffle for a $25 Amazon e-gift card. Our survey should take 5-10 minutes, plus any time you decide to spend on the external 529 website--how long you spend on that website will be up to you. The odds of winning will be 1 in 50, or better.
Unfortunately, our budget is not unlimited. Once we reach 300 started surveys, the survey link will deactivate. We will update this post to let you know when the study is dead. Winners will be notified within 24 hours after we close the study. At the end of the survey, we will redirect you to a different survey (to preserve anonymity) in which we will ask for your e-mail address. If you are a winner, we will e-mail you with details on redeeming your e-gift card.
We ask that you only take this survey if you meet the following criteria: 1. You are over the age of 18. 2. You are a parent to a child 3 years old or younger. 3. You have some interest in opening a 529 College Savings Plan but have not done so yet.
Here is the link to the survey: http://ift.tt/1YIKQ0i

EMSKR: How to wear cologne/aftershave.
So my younger brother walks into my room today and, suddenly, I'm back in Middle School, walking down the halls through clouds of AXE Body Spray.
Personally, I never wear scented products so the only thing I could think to say was "you smell like a douchbag." Can you guys give me any tips so I can help my little bro smell like a man?

Fixing neck mistakes
How do you go about fixing a fudged neck line? I got like 2 month beard, trimmed one side too high by accident, and I really don't want to shave off the whole beard. Should I take it back to 1/2 and try to grow a new neckline? It's currently at about a 1. Anyone have any good techniques to save my manliness?

Born again to the gym, trouble with my outer elbows
I was a big lifter in high school for football, through college for the babes, and for several years after college... also for the babes.
I'm now married (it all worked out!) and have a daughter. During that 3 years off caring for a pregnant wife and doing parenting, I didn't go to the gym at all. I've made my way back to the gym since I'm able to get out of work earlier these days and I'm now having pain in my elbows (outside, not in the joint but a ligament/tendon that runs along).
I've started doing light weight bench and light weight shoulder press with dumbells in addition to other non-elbow related things.
I am now 33 years old. Am I just old now? Is this something I need to be concerned about? Should I be doing other exercises?
This seems like a good sub to help me. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Hello!
Today I decided that I was no longer going to hide my beard. Normally, I would use oils and wax to keep it down and in line. I never once allowed myself to brush it out and let it grow properly and breathe.
In the last two months, I went from a very close even shave to this. Other than trimming of my mustache and shaping, I have not cut my beard. I have always used oils and natural shampoos to keep it healthy and dandruff free, but this is something new for me.
Please take a look and let me know if I should continue. Any added tips or tricks are welcome to keep this guy luscious and full.

Anybody else had a problem with Dollar Beard Club?
I'm in Canada and ordered from Dollar Beard Club in early August. The first shipment never got here, tracking number didn't work, and when I asked them about it, they just said be patient and use the tracking number. They've shipped and billed me again about 4 days ago and again, the tracking numbers don't work.
Has anybody else had a problem with them? Am I the unlucky outlier?

I'm at a crossroads: Trim/Shave/Grow?
So I've been growing this beard (album: http://ift.tt/1MVunSL ) since May (approx. 4 months) with some light trimming here and there.
Lately I've been getting tired of it for a number of reasons (getting in my mouth, catching all the leftovers of any meal or drink) and just have been feeling gross with this much hair on my face as this is really the first full beard I've had in my life.
If I had my choice I would prefer to keep it slightly shorter, but as I have a hard time growing any significant hair on my cheeks as well as my sideburns the results don't look as good (to me at least) at a shorter length (see this album for approx 1-2 months of growth: http://ift.tt/1Wu8c81)
I've gotten mixed results from friends and family, and I'm really considering shaving it (potentially keeping the mustache). So I've come to you here /r/beards for your help/advice. Do you see potential for this beard? If I do keep it what steps should I take to maximize it's potential?
Thank you for your time and help!

How can one increase the number of muscle fibers?
So, Im just curious - and I can't really find any good information about this. After doing a little research though, I found that using HGH can increase the number of muscle fibers, but are there any other way to do this? I know increasing the size of existing muscle fibers can be achieved in a number of different ways (strength training, steroids, etc), but what about increasing the number of the fibers? Just so you know: I am no expert on training at all, just a curious guy.
First time growing a beard, 3 weeks with no shave
On September 8th, I welcomed my son into this world. Due to a few days of not paying attention to my razor, I decided to just keep going and see how it would look if I just let it grow out. I've always been apprehensive to growing my beard out only because during my teenage years, my face was ravaged by acne. The only facial hair I've ever had luck with was the mustache and goatee, so I've kept that up for years. The few times I tried growing the full beard in the past it looked patchy and thin, so I gave up a few days later. This time, I'm up to 3 full weeks and I'm undecided where to go from here.
I know I should eventually shave off quite a bit of the hair on my neck, but I'm not sure what do do with the rest. I'd like to get the thoughts of this community before making my final decision.
I got married a couple of weeks ago and decided to start on fresh beard right after. These are the last pics of my once glorious beard. (plus I've lost a 105 pounds in 7 months and these are also the first pics of me 6-8 years where I don't look like a whale)
Is the Beardbrand Beardsman Grooming Kit Worth It?
I want to start growing out and taking proper care of my beard (proper grooming, proper product care, etc)...Is it worthwhile to invest in the Beardbrand grooming kit? It seems to have a decent supply of tools, except maybe a good electric trimmer.

Questions on mustache wax
I've been trying to grow my beard out more, and in the past I've had to keep my mustache shorter than the rest of my facial hair since I haven't used any wax and my mustache is fairly thick and tends to prefer going down straight into my mouth when growing in length.
I purchased Beardsman Mustache Wax, and I think I have the basic gist (scrape some up, rub between thumb and finger, apply, etc) but it still doesn't really hold the mustache hair to the side or keep most of it from hanging down. It definitely helps, but it wasn't totally what I was expecting.
Any tips? Is this typical of all mustache waxes? Will it maybe get easier to part to the sides as the mustache gets longer?

Hello bearded friends. I've had my beard for almost 2 years and it looks like it has stopped growing. Is there a "peak" or a maximum length for my beard ? Could trimming the ends of my beard help increase its length ?

Several months of growing/trimming. Any shape advise or something?
Hello. I have to say that this subreddit changed my mind about beard growing. I passed from growing the jaw line and trimming every few weeks like that to grow without shaving or trimming anything except the neck until I grow as long as that. From that point people started to be annoying with comments. I don't want to shave, so I try to keep it a bit tidy. I did a trim yesterday from a length very similar to last picture and I left it like that, that and that. It's the third time I repeat that since I started full growing and I'm thinking about any change. I don't know if trying to shape different.
Any advice? I thought about shaving a bit the high part of the cheeks (my weakest part) to shape up the jaw line and letting the goatee longer... (I couldn't find a good picture to show the idea)
Advice please. Keep growing unkept or start shaping now as I mean to go on? Probably about 9 mnth

Best way to comb/brush this?
So I am around... 2 months maybe? And this is how it looks http://ift.tt/1OB7EvG
Aside from the scruffy look, I am in doubt how to brush it. I can make it go all the way down (image 2 on the album) if I comb from the neck up, but if I go down from my lips (like seems to be the right way) it will just flatten out on my chin (image 1 on the album)

Patchy beard
Hey, 21 year old guy here.
I've never really shaved much, always just used trimmers to get my facial hair down. When I do let it grow out, I see a lot of patchy growth and its not full in some areas (around and under my chin and the sides where they're supposed to connect to the goatee). So is there anything I could do to help it grow out fuller and thicker or or should I give up my dreams of having full thick beard?

Thanks guys

A goodbye to an old friend story. (A story a day.)
I write this with tears in my eyes and a heart heavy with sorrow. Today was one of the hardest days of my life. I never would’ve expected that I would have to say goodbye to one of my greatest friends. He kept me warm. He was my wing man. He sheltered me from storms. He made me into the man that I am today. He was with me through my greatest trials and tribulations, but held fast. Through thick and thin, he was a true hero. And today, I betrayed him. I cut him down like no friend should ever think of doing to another. I mowed right over every memory that we ever created together and ended his glorious, young life. Why did I do it? It wasn’t out of spite, or discomfort or because he had done anything wrong. It was simply because I was looking for a fresh start. A clean slate.
So there I was, blade in hand, face as cold as steel and skin as bare as a newborn; hunched over the sink and staring at a metric gigaton of beard hair, staring longingly back at me from the bottom of the bathroom sink.
TL;DR - I shaved today. It sucked.

So I have a curly beard. It's not ridiculously curly, but just curly enough to be unruly most of the time and definitely enough to be annoying. ok so, I have to shave weekly, because after a week you can visably see a very sparse mustache and my side burns also grow down. now im wondering, my side burns growing down to almost the bottom of my jaw is this a sign that i will definitely be able to grow a beard later in life? because ive never heard of anyone that could just grow side burns down. also my facial hair needed to be shaved one a week starting like at the begining of 2015. any estimate on maybe when it will grow faster or if it will ever grow faster than that?

Help me to mourn the loss of a beard
I have been dating my boyfriend for a year. He has had some form of a beard the entire time and I always made it known that I adored his beard and wished it to never depart. Then this morning I get a selfie from out of a nightmare... my boyfriend standing, shirtless and beardless. The harsh yellow lighting only outlining the terror before me. No more beard. No more beard?! I struggled to compose myself. "It's ok," I said, "you like him for him, right?" But I'm not so sure.

6mm Hairs Mixed with Many Lighter 1mm Hairs on Chin
I'm at about 2 weeks growth. My chin density seems to be posing an issue. My chin is thin in density. It has some hair to the point where it looks like the beginnings of a beard from about a few feet away, but up close it looks thin. I can see in the mirror that there are many 1mm hairs filling in the rest of the space on my chin. They are lighter then the rest and appear thinner. Will this grow in or should I accept my fate of having a thin chin beard?
tldr; do the 1/6th length hairs catch up to the rest?
Meant to post this earlier, but this is my Six monther with one trim. Longest I've had it so far.

Question beard balm vs oil for young growing beard?
Hi i'm 18 years old and i'm about 3 1/2 weeks into growing a beard. I have been reading about beard oils and balms and was wondering which would be better to use for a young growing beard? What are the differences between the two? Should I wait until it grows more to use, or would it help growth to use the balm/oil early on? Thanks in advance!
Hey bearded brethren, when did your beard fill in completely? I'm 18 and have been trimming it up, but I am curious as to know when the real, full, beard beard comes along.
Beards can sometimes be kind of discouraging...
I decided to jump on OK Cupid since many people I know have had some great luck with it. I actually have met a couple people on there which was fun, but for the majority, it is actually kind of a self esteem killer. Often times I am told women would prefer clean shaven and it usually makes me chuckle, but one after another after another kind of gets old. I'm not really the type of person (anymore) to shave for a woman, but looking for some encouragement I guess. I also live in Indiana and apart of me often time feels I am in the wrong state in general haha.
I posted a pic the other day of my beard, and I admit it's long, but damn. Beards are natural. I'm not out there looking for only women with unnatural breasts LOL.

I've accepted the fact that it's not gonna be an awesome full beard anytime soon (or ever) so the question is what the hell am I supposed to do with it. Clean shaved is not really an option because I utterly dislike how my face looks like without any facial hair.
And that's where I turn to you, of wise men of the bearded variety. If any of you can come up with a way to style / trim this abominable hair thing that be much appreciated!

Any experience with biotin and castor oil?
I fucked up Sunday and took off my 5 month beard, now it's time to grow it back. I bought some biotin since that helps with hair and nail growth/health, but I heard it takes a month for any real results, even then it seems like I should take that with a grain of salt. I've also heard that it might not really work at all. However I've heard that castor oil is something you could use and rub into your face before bed every night and that, too, would help with beard growth.

Question about carrier oil combination
Hey guys, I recently decided to grow a beard, after asking some advices on the same reddit and reading most of the things available on the sidebar, I have one question, how are we supposed to mix different oil ? For example, I'm planing on buying a little bottle of argan oil as well as a little bottle of tea tree. Which means, if I understood well, that I should use the argan oil as a carrier oil ( even though I can still use it alone ) and mix it with tea tree oil right ? However, I saw that we're supposed to put something like a dime of oil, should it be a dime of oil of both oil ? or since I have to dilute the tea tree oil, I should put more argan oil than tea tree ? But in approximatively which proportions ? Thanks in advance !

Why I use Honest Amish, and why you should too.
I've been a bit of a lurker around these parts for a while now, so I know there's already a lot of love for Honest Amish protruding from your many well-trimmed and conditioned whiskers. However, I feel that my recent experiences with them warrant a post-of-praise on here for the rest of you to see.
Let me just start by saying that I've been a big fan of their Beard Balm. All of the ingredients they use are recognizable, so you can feel good about what you're putting on your face. This stuff makes my beard feel amazing, and it smells like a burlap sack soaked in the musk of a true American man (roughly equivalent to the smell of black liquorice).
As I'm sure you know, it's recommended that you allow your balm to melt before shaking it up and letting it solidify at room temperature, all because of the natural separation of the ingredients over time. Well in doing so, my balm reached a state of constant goopiness no matter how many times I tried to chill it and get it to stiffen up. I emailed the fine folk over at Honest Amish (shout-out to Roscoe who helped me beyond my expectations) simply to see if there were a easy fix to my problem. I got a reply almost immediately, but I didn't get an answer. Instead, Roscoe told me to give him a mailing address. So I did...
Not a week later, two boxes came in the mail for me. When I opened them, not only did I find a replacement for my goopy-balm, but also an extra tin of Beard Balm AND a tin of their Beard Wax for me to try. I was blown away. Now you have to understand something about me. I don't hand out recommendations easily because I find it difficult myself to commit to one fucking kind of shampoo for shit's sake. However, the level of appreciation and value they've shown for their customer has earned them my exclusive business. As long as their product and customer service continue to meet my expectations, I won't buy anywhere else.
If Honest Amish isn't part of your beard-care routine, it should be. If you haven't tried Honest Amish before, what's wrong with you? Hop on the wagon and show em some love.

EMSK: common mistakes to avoid when writing a résumé. (x-post /r/YouShouldKnow)
I saw this in /r/YouShouldKnow the other day and I thought you guys might appreciate it. I'm often put in charge of hiring people for the company I work for, and this might be the best advice I've ever read. Here's the full quote:
Hiring managers hate resumes that are too self-centered - however, that doesn't mean "be modest". In fact, it's just the opposite. You still want to make yourself look like to best candidate for the position, and in order to do that, it's better to focus on the needs of the business rather than yourself.
When writing a resume, think of it less along the lines of, "this is what I'm looking for", and more "this is what I can do for you".
You'll be surprised at how simple changes in sentence structure, and focusing on action verbs instead of pronouns like "me", "he", "we", can completely change the tone of the resume. You'll be surprised how well this works. (source, plus some other tips I didn't include).
TL;DR We want to hire someone who will make our company better, because that makes us look good. Be that person.

Carrier oils questions
Hi,
So I'm going to attempt to make my own beard oil and had a couple of questions about the carrier oils.
Can I use more than the one oil? More than two? I think I would like 3 carrier oils but would that be over doing it? What would the ratio of the oils be, for example would I use equal amount of the carrier oils or 10% of oil 1 5% of oil 2 etc? I really want to use Argan oil in my product, would that be OK? What carrier oils do you guys use and recommend?
Thanks :)>>>>>
DIY Custom beard balm/mustache wax recipe
Hi, I recently created my own custom beard balm. I thought I would share, this is the final product, sorry for an ugly container, I could not get any nice looking metal casing.
I used:
- 100gr of unrefined shea butter
- 70gr of natural beeswax
- 20gr (ml) of jojoba oil
- 20gr (ml) of grapes seeds oil
- few drops of essential scent oil (I used cedar but you can have whatever)
Preparation (very easy):
Prepare a water bath like in the example. Put wax and shea butter there, and wait until it melts. Now add jojoba and grapes oils. When it is is basically a liquid, pour it to some final container. Now wait a little bit until it is not super hot and add essential scent oils of your choosing. Essential oils can't be added while in water bath because they evaporate in a quite low temperature (~41C).
A general rule here is that the more shea you add the softer (and more liquid) the balm is. For example if you added 50gr instead of 100gr, you got yourself a great mustache wax.

EMSKR - Need a little help with shaving some difficult areas.
I'm in high school and I'd consider myself a fairly hairy kid. But one thing odd I've noticed is the fact that my dick has hair almost all the way to the head. Like long hair nearly a centimeter from my head. I have an electric razor and can shave most of the areas around the base of my dick and around my lower stomach, even under my balls. I'm scared that I'll have a girl be turned off by it and I want to know if:
1: if it's normal to grow hair that high up the penis
2: what razor I should buy to shave that sensitive of skin
3: methods on how to shave skin that sensitive without any experience on with a non-electric(?) razor
Thanks guys. Just trying to avoid awkward situations.
For those who seek answers!
If you're just like me, when i started reading this sub, i was watching all kinds of epic beards and i wanted one. But also, if you're like me and you have a weird beard with beardless spots, you have to wonder, is it going to fill? is it going anywhere? So, i searched and researched for people that actually had the same problems i had and not many people actually went for it, they ended up quitting at 1, 2 or 3 months into it.
This post is pretty much to motivate the people i just described. JUST LET IT GROW, it will eventually end up filling some spots and maybe achieve something. I wasn't quite sure and i had tried it before and i ended up cutting the beard, so this time i thought i would let it grow and just be patient.
If you guys have wondered how is it going to look after, just look at my before and after pictures and compare it to yourself. I saw some post a while back and i thought my beard look exactly the same as that guy and it was actually correct, it's pretty much the same as that guy!

About 6 weeks in, looking for some advice!
I started my beard quest 6 weeks ago. This community has been an awesome resource between the guides and the pictures that everyone shares.
My biggest concern so far is the growth on my cheeks. I feel like the upper area of my cheeks just aren't getting enough growth and looks pretty patchy. Should I keep letting it go and see what happens? Or should I just trim down the cheek line a little bit?
Regarding the sides: I find a lot of the hairs on the side of my cheeks tend to just stick out in all kinds of crazy directions. I've been using scissors just to keep them in check but they just keep coming back. Should I just let those go as well?
And finally, how do you guys feel about trimming the mustache? Should I let it keep growing over my upper lip or just use scissors to keep it above the lip?

I was going to try and word this cleverly but hell, if we're old enough to grow a beard we're old enough to talk about it. No shame. (slightly ashamed)
Recently I ended up running into someone I used to sleep with in university, we went out for drinks and ended up at my place. It was a bit of a hilarious blast from the past but the sex was fun none the less.
The following morning i ended up sleeping in later than I had planned, I was supposed to pick my friend up and drive him to an appointment. She was already gone so I threw on some clothes and headed out.
I jumped in my truck and made for Tim Horton's. I noticed a really bad smell in my truck, so when I got there I looked around for something I might have left to spoil. Nothing. I got inside and noticed the smell in there as well, it was following me around.
I picked up my friend and as we drove I told him about the previous night, and then about this smell i couldn't find. He started laughing and asked "Did you by chance go down on [her] and did you wash that beard"
oh god
I made a detour to my place and gave it a good scrub. Smell gone.
Anyway, surely some of you must have had this happen, for those that haven't; Even on a rush day - keep that beard clean.
